I always believe in second chances.
There he was, sitting all alone and lost, helpless, hopeless and unloved. I was looking, checking and then our eyes meet.
I decided to take him home. There in the passenger seat not making any noise just surrendering to me. He was bewildered . All I could do is just channel some love and reassurance that everything will be okay.
I fed him and made him comfortable in his new home. Then my girls walked in, duet of, how dare you not even consult us if you could bring this thing home? Look at it, all scraggly and dirty and looks wild and unkempt. I replied I know I made the right decision. In time you'll learn to love him and with proper care he will flourish and be healthy and happy. How could you love such a thing? clone number one asked. I replied, its easy. just open your heart.
That was over six months ago. Now he has grown healthy with lush feathers, beautiful colorful tail and crown to match all perched up there. He's one spunky cockatiel and likes looking at himself in the mirror.
Everything do thrive with love and care. Come to think of it my girls was gonna release him into the wild, because he looked different. He would not have survived. I lectured my girls about, looking deeper and searching within our hearts, not just taking things at face value. I hope they learnt the lesson.
Give everybody a chance, love them, look after the lost, give them something to perch on.
Now what to call our spunky one.
